Description
Blue books are empty, lined booklets used for writing assignments and exams. Rather than modern multiple choice or fill in the blank exams, classicists encourage students to engage in complete thoughts as he or she assesses answers to questions.
Each semester, CC Challenge A, B, I, II, II, and IV students complete a blue book exam of essay questions that integrate many ideas from many subjects studied that semester. Blue books are taken under the honor system. Tutors put a few questions on the board and leave the students alone for 2 hours as they silently "think on paper".
Parents and their students then assess the student's written thoughts after the tutor has made some cursory comments in the blue book. CC tutors then write their own assessment of the students' work in the form of a progress report encouraging the student to identify strengths and over come weaknesses.
