Delivery information

Please note: Express Shipping is temporarily unavailable. Check back later for service resumption.
We all love a bargain and we all love a good read. We also know in our hearts the old adage ‘you get what you pay for’ is true. To soften the blow of the price of some of these wonderful books and yet to support the current small UK market authorship, we wanted to sweeten the deal as much as possible. And so, we are offering
FREE SHIPPING!*
Yes! You did just read that right. Read it again just to be sure and do a quick dance. The asterisk is coming and it applies to *orders under £75 where a flat fee of £3.50 postage and packing is charged (for these smaller orders, we are simply covering our cost.) As much as we would love to, we can’t offer expedited shipping for free. Instead, you can always choose to pay £4.99 for express delivery (temporarily unavailable). If you have any problems, please contact us and we will do our best to help you.
Republic of Ireland
You will see three delivery options at checkout: Standard, Express, and Urgent. These are priced as a flat fee of €50, €60, and €70, respectively. We take this as a pending charge to cover all scenarios. You will most likely not need to pay the full amount. We will choose the service you indicate at checkout, and refund you the difference.
We reserve the right to cancel your order if no shipping solution exists within these price bounds, though we will contact you before doing so. In this case, a custom shipping option will need to be added.
Please note: For deliveries to Ireland, we are unable to collect the appropriate taxes and duties that the local authorities levy on your purchase. This may result in your item being held at customs until you pay any dues to the officials. By placing an order with us, you acknowledge that you may be required to pay a fee to the local customs and that the Classical Conversations UK&I Bookshop is unable to assist you with this.
Rapid Response
We aim to get your goods to you as quickly as possible. We are just a small family business, and there are always days where getting our act together takes just that little bit longer than ideal. Some days we will have your order ready to ship within moments. Other times, it may take more time. We commit to dispatching your regular order within 5 business days of receiving it unless:
- One of the team is ill
- A pandemic hits or other event invoking the usual multiple force majeure clauses occurs
- The shipping companies go on strike (or similar)
- We are on the road to Practicum, Signature CC Events, Conferences and the like, (in which case, we hope, we are coming to you!)
- IT issues. We know, it's lame. Hopefully it won't ever happen, but our wifi could inexplicably stop or our computer behave badly. We promise to do our reasonable best toward IT strength.
- Someone bagged the last book just before you (in which case we will be re-ordering ASAP)
- We took too long to handle, load, carefully package and generally delight over your excellent purchase so we missed the last post.
- A big new stock order is in (we can’t keep stop reading those books)
- A rush of orders meant we had to start somewhere and sadly the short straw was pulled your way.
Where we can’t fulfil the 5 day promise, we will email you.
If we are waiting on the delivery of an item, we will do the sensible thing in each situation. Sometimes this will mean waiting for the arrival of the missing item before shipping. Other times it will mean two separate shipments for you. We will always do our best to treat you how we would like to be treated in the situation if the roles were reversed.
If you have any special delivery questions or instructions, please contact us HERE. We'd love to help.
Instead of Bookshop Pick-up, try this:
Since we are dropping off other orders at the parcel shop anyway, it makes more sense to post all the orders and streamline the logistics into a sustainable rhythm. We believe that this will result in better service for everyone.
Our suggestion for the times in which you only need one or two things that don’t qualify for free shipping (for which all orders over £75 qualify) is to find out if anybody else in your CC Community needs more items, order as a group, and distribute on Community day. This way, you can hopefully qualify for free shipping, or failing that, split the postage cost multiple ways.
Thank you again for your support of the CC Bookshop.
